-violoncello, it is commonly known as the cello. Like the violin, this instrument also has a four string which is played by using a bow. This has longer strings than a violin.

The next type of instrument is the brass. This is commonly made up of metals. The sound is produced by blowing into the mouthpiece. Playing this instrument needs a good involvement in respiratory muscles. Examples of brass instruments are given below.

-tube, this is a member of the bass family. It can produce a low tone with resonant quality. This is commonly used in parades.

-hornet, is also known as the French horn. It is composed with four valves played by the left hand. This can easily mix its sound to other instruments.

The next type of instrument is the woodwind. This is commonly made up of wood. Like the brass instruments, the woodwind can also produce its sound through blowing into the mouthpiece. It has whole in which you are to block or open to create the desired note. Examples of woodwind instruments are given below.

-flute, this is commonly used by different individual. It has a cylindrical shape, looks like a long stick. Different scale can be played in a fast manner using this instrument. Its tone sounds like a bird.

-saxophone, this instrument is made of metal s. It sounds like a clarinet. This is perfectly used in soft and jamming music just like the jazz and soul.

The next type is the percussion instrument. It is derived from the word percuss which means to hit or to strike. These instruments can create sound by striking. Some are made of metals and some are made out from woods. Examples of percussion instruments are given below.

-tambourine, this is a small drum-like appearance. What is unique about this instrument is that its material used involves animal skin.

-bass drum; this is a large, round instrument that has a soft headed stick used for hitting. It sounds like a thunder. It is played using the foot. In parades it is played by striking a padded stick from the right or left hand.

Rock or hip-hops enliven and energize especially the young ones. Undoubtedly, each rhythm gives a mood depending in ones atmosphere or feeling.

Indeed, music has a soul that lifts a man’s spirit to heights where the hustle and bustles of life disappear into oblivion leaving a feeling of relieved and healed as trance grows as the songs gently penetrated his heart and mind.

It gives pleasure, pain, enjoyment, sorrow, melancholy, zest, inspiration, sentimentality and so on. It evokes various moods in the soul of man. Name it and a song can evoke it.

This reminds me of a story entitled “the sailor’s song”. A group of sailors sang this song before they boarded their ship. In the middle of their voyage, they encountered a fierce storm. Knowing that there is no way they could save their lives, they sang “the sailors’ song”. It gave them the bravery to face the last moment of their lives together with dignity. With this, they used music in a sense to express their feelings. This also reminds me again of another story of an old lady, who’s alone in her house long abandoned by her husband. She would still listen to their favorite songs. Is this may be to ease her hurts or to express her missing him?

Now these stories make us wonder why man in the midst of his sorrow, fear or being in situations where there is no hope, they still have the courage and inspiration to sing or listen to songs. Perhaps, it is because music gives them comfort, solace, hope and most of all the spirit to face life.

There are people though, who love music to the core. They feel, breathe, and savour the rhythm and words with ardour and deep appreciation. In other words, they just live in them. Music is their life.  For me, they are the ones who perfectly feel the soul of music. Singers and musicians, they have my deep respect and admiration. Together they make the soul of music tangible.
